Christmas came early this year for one lucky KP reader. Kelvin Pedrus of Kolonia was the winner of the KP 8th Anniversary bike give-away competit ion, drawn last Saturday morning at Scooby’s Wholesale in the PAMI Building.
The 100cc Honda Bravo motor scooter, valued at $1,500, was the first prize in the competition which has been run in the KP for the last three editions.
Over 1,000 coupon entries were received in the competition drop box which was drawn by KP Board member Ms E Musrasrik. Many competition entry hopefuls were at Scooby’s to watch the draw hoping to ride away on the brand new motor scooter, kindly donated to KP by Scooters and Cycles of Micronesia.
Mr Pedrus was at home at the time his lucky coupon was drawn from the drop box. When a telephone call was made to him at his home by Ms Cel Figueras of Scooters and Cycles of Micronesia / Scooby’s Wholesale, Kelvin at first was surprised that he was the winner by asking if it was a joke.
“I think he was in a state of shock when I told him he had won,” Ms Figueras said.
Before the drawing, Mr Bob Spegal of the KP acknowledged the progress of the KP over the last 8 years. He also stressed the importance of a free press in communities. During his speech, Bob paid tribute to the contributions made by the late Gene Ashby in making the KP the success that it is today. The recent move to publish the KP electronically, an initiative of current managing editor Bill Jaynes, has resulted in over 10,000 per month, all over the world, reading the KP.
Our congratulations go to Mr Pedrus in winning the competition. We at the KP also take the opportunity of thanking Scooters and Cycles of Micronesia for supplying this great motor scooter as the major prize for this competition. Our thanks also go to Scooby’s wholesale for giving a $25 gift certificate to one of the competition entrants who was at Scooby’s for the drawing. That prize was won by Mila Comendador of CCA School.
